Successful start to DOMIZIL 2023

Auftakt der 4. DOMIZIL

Invited guests from politics, business and the tourism industry were welcomed today at the opening ceremony of the 4th DOMIZIL, Germany's first and largest trade fair for vacation rentals. In addition, numerous interested visitors already streamed through the rows of 111 exhibitors from 5 nations and to the specialist lectures and workshops.

A total of around 3,500 visitors are expected at Messe Husum & Congress until November 5, 2023. On around 5,000 square meters of exhibition space, they will be presented with a broad spectrum ranging from planning & construction, furnishing & lifestyle, services, marketing, IT & administration to the rental itself. In short, DOMIZIL 2023 will feature all the trends and topics that are currently affecting hosts - especially in light of the many challenges the industry is currently facing: from increased guest demands and tougher competitive conditions after coronavirus to the shortage of skilled workers and price trends.

The motto: qualitative development instead of growth at any price

These challenges also played a decisive role in the opening program, after all, the tourism industry is an important economic sector, not only in the north, and the DOMIZIL is therefore a fixed authority for the industry, with supra-regional appeal. "Where, if not in Schleswig-Holstein, should such a trade fair take place? The tourism industry here in the true north achieved record results in the first half of 2023. Even though the challenges in times of crisis are great, this shows that things are going well," emphasized Julia Carstens, State Secretary in the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Transport, Employment, Technology and Tourism Industry in her welcoming address.

Afterwards, a panel talk with Julia Carstens, Dr. Sabrina Seeler, Project Manager Tourism Acceptance Study (TAS) at the German Institute for Tourism Research at the West Coast University of Applied Sciences and Frank Ketter, Managing Director of Nordsee Tourismus Service GmbH, was dedicated to the highly topical aspect of "Holiday home tourism in harmony with the locals". In the exchange between the experts, it quickly became clear that "quality before quantity" is becoming a strategic guiding principle for the further development of the tourism offer.

Meike Kern, Managing Director of Messe Husum & Congress GmbH & Co KG, then officially launched DOMIZIL 2023. She thanked the guests, the trade fair team and all cooperation partners and looked positively to the future: "The size of DOMIZIL has increased by 30 percent compared to the previous year and we are aiming for further growth that goes well beyond the national borders. The Tiny House Village, where we are expecting many interested visitors, is already providing a first glimpse of this this year!"
